October 24th

Good Evening Everyone,

I trust you had a wonderful weekend. As discussed in class our next class session will be an online class session in which you will be taking a Test that covers chapter 1-5. Please be sure to inform your study buddies who were absent from the last class.
I have uploaded the PowerPoints for chapter 3-4-5.

Our discussion for this week:

Chapter 4 described three types of studies that could be used to support a validity argument focused on construct-related evidence.  Briefly, how could a simple intervention study be implemented by a classroom teacher to support the validity of an inference about a particular test’s ability to accurately gauge a teacher’s instructional success?

I will have 6 videos nested in your toolbox along with the PowerPoints. Please review them all in preparation for the Test. Be sure to read all chapters. 1-2-3-4-5

Note:
1.       The Test will be opened at 5:00 pm Friday October 17th 2014
2.       The test is to be taken individually, please do not collude.
3.       It will consist of material covering chapter 1-2-3-4-5
4.       You will have 50 items.
5.       The test is timed at 1 hour 40 min
6.       You have one re-test option that must be re-deemed between the 5:00 – 8:30
7.       At 8:50 the test will be closed.

I will start checking the blog updates week 4-7 at 5:00 pm tomorrow. Have a great week.

Reminder on October 24th we will have a group activity to participate you are required to bring a sample assessment that you used in your class. Be prepared to explain it to us.

October 10th 2014

Greetings,

Due to the unexpected change in our class schedule last week I was forced to cut class short however I did include a lot of videos to complete our schedule lesson. Please be sure to review them as many times as you may require.

Please note that these videos will not compensate for you actually reading the chapters on your own.
For this week.

1. Be sure that you have read up to chapter 5.
2. Class discussion on chapter 4-5.
3. Watch the following videos to improve understanding and be prepared to contribute in our class discussion.
4. Blog post- respond to the discussion and comment on your classmates response.

Discuss: Which, if either, of the two approaches to bias detection discussed in the chapter
(judgemental or empirical) do you think yields the most compelling evidence of assessment bias? Why?

Hint! you need to read the chapter, then respond!

Quiz 3 - Chapter 3 - online October 9th 2014 (Read the chapter and you will be fine.)
Test 1 - Chapter 1-5 October 17th 2014 - Format 50 MC/TF (TBA if online or hardcopy)

Enjoy your week and don't forget to read.

Please forward any questions that you may have to me via engrade email.

Papers will be distributed Friday October 17th 2014. I apologize for the delay but I two students had requested permission to be absent from this assessment and permission was granted. Until they are able to retake the assessment, papers will not be distributed. Note however that your grades are have been online since September 27th 2014.

Also note that chapter 3 was assigned as reading for two weeks now so please be sure to review the chapter thoroughly as it is one of the most difficult chapters in the course.

No blog posts have been assigned this week in an effort to allow all those people who have not yet posted for the weeks that have not yet been graded to do so.

Note that after the assignment for the week has been checked and points awarded I will indicate that that section is closed via a post and email. No other post to that page will receive any points.

Have a great week!
