  1. It is important to practice netiquette in on-line classroom discussions and emails to maintain respect for others. People’s feelings, values and beliefs must be considered when discussing topics. We must behave and interact respectfully and be careful how things are said to avoid misunderstandings so others don’t feel offended. Do not share personal information that has been obtained through on-line with other people outside the class so as to avoid any unpleasant situation. When communicating online one must always conduct themselves in a professional manner by making a positive impact through their written text.

    1. Good night Ms. Martinez,
I was rather impressed with your statement about maintaining “respect for others”. I believe that netiquette attempts to establish protocols in how we utilize technology. I believe that respect is the fundamental agent in establishing cordial relationships. A person is the sum total of his or her relationship with others. In a society where disrespect seems to be the status quo, we as educators must lead and manage by example. Educators continue to be recipients of disrespect in the classroom. Our society faces disrespect daily with the total disregard of our laws and regulations. More importantly, disrespect is now permeating online communication. Your statement regarding respect is crucial for even scripture contends that you should do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Self-respect defines an individual. A lack of self-respect only serves to destroy a person´s character.

  2. Students taking online courses are easily tempted to practice academic dishonesty (plagiarism) so it’s necessary to learn how to provide and site references correctly. The tutorial provided three options that can be used to maintain academic integrity which are paraphrasing and quoting, paraphrasing and summarizing and summarizing by rewording. If you are using someone else work or ideas then references is necessary so you can give credit where necessary. This will demonstrate that you are being honest and respectful in your academic writing.

    1. I definitely agree with you on the part where you mention that students who are taking online courses get tempted to practice academic dishonesty (plagiarism). Plagiarism is simply the theft of someone else work. Even if the student try to reword and put in ideas , it is still taking from another source without proper references which leads to academic dishonest. So students indeed need to learn how to provide and site their references correctly. It's best to work independently and avoid cheating the system by using other people idea or work without proper citation.

  3. The uniquely termed concept of Netiquette, referring to Network Etiquette, Email Etiquette and Proper Technology Use, champions the belief that people are judged by how they personally communicate with others online. It is imperative then that internet users become highly cognizant of how to effectively use technology when communicating with others via knowledge, understanding and courtesy.
Highly common in the contemporary use of internet and technology is the ever present absence of courteous greetings and closings in emails, improper use of full caps, sending of huge attachments, forwarding other´s email addresses in the “to” field and not including a friendly personal comment, and the like. Over time, the absence of on-line email etiquette may quite possibly result in lost business and strained human relations.
Netiquette provides students, teachers and other internet users much credibility. For example, a highly organized and courteous message has far reaching implications than an improperly formulated email lacking courtesy. In essence, Netiquette allows users of on-line discussions and emails to be positive and impressive.
I strongly contend that Netiquette advocates treating others with respect, dignity, courtesy and professionalism when using technology. Netiquette tries, in my opinion, to make users of technology and internet highly educated and professional in their correspondence.

I strongly agree with your last paragraph where your said that netiquette ties into making users of technology and the internet better highly educated and professional in their online communication. we tend to feel like every and anything goes when using the internet but this is not the case. we still need to maintain our smarts and professionalism.

  4. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY

There are many reasons why one should learn how to provide references using academic integrity. It respects the intellectual and property rights of others. Moreover, it prevents difficulties when dealing with cross-cultural societies worldwide where lawsuits may take precedence over verbal settlements regarding ownership of on-line identities and text.

The provision of references establishes personal awareness that direct plagiarism has serious consequences legally and academically in institutions. Providing references facilitates the acknowledgment of the work of others. A lack of quoting or simple paraphrasing results in plagiarism. Whether, intentional or unintentional, it is considered a criminal offense. Providing references prevents a person from violating academic integrity. Thus, a lack of referencing is unacceptable. There must be utmost attention given to paraphrasing and quoting, paraphrasing and summarizing and summarizing by rewording. These factors assist teachers, students, and researchers in maintaining academic integrity.

Referencing should be utilized in order that a person teaches, learns and researches honestly. Knowing how to provide references allows a person respect for the work of others and surely exemplifies professionalism. Referencing is at the core of establishing ethical and professional standards.

Plagiarism, collusion and cheating are all factors that compromise academic integrity. The presence of academic integrity nurtures moral values and standards and helps build a society based on integrity. The absence of academic integrity only confirms to the status quo of mediocrity and the deterioration of moral values and principles. Such only serves to destroy the foundation of our society.

    1. Netiquette, simply put is network etiquette. In a nut shell it sensitizes network users about the proper procedures that should be used when interacting online to ensure the safety of conversations and to inform users about acceptable practices. For instance; while e-mailing it is advisable not to use bold letter as it appears that you are shouting or, never send emails that you know might come back to trouble you. It is important to note that even after a message has been deleted it remains. Therefore, it is advisable that we play it smart and be wary of netiquette when e-mailing to avoid any embarrassing or incriminating situations.

    2. Academic integrity goes beyond academic honesty. It involves taking responsibility for your actions, setting examples and completing your own work. As students, it is important to provide references to cite sources from which information is collected. Too often, students violate their academic code of ethics by practicing plagiarism. They reword, summarize or paraphrase other people’s work and claim it as their own instead of giving credits to the original author. This practice is not encouraged as it is dishonest and does not provide a true picture of a person’s academic abilities. Students are encouraged to use quotation marks when they are quoting directly from the original source and cite the works of others as they document their research.
For example: "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."Nelson Mandela

    3. Academic integrity does go beyond the academics, beyond the scope of an educational institution. It clearly reflects the nature of one’s society. As Belize has grown and nation building has occurred, our educational system has also evolved.
Mr. Espat’s post made me think of how our society has deteriorated in terms of its morality. Some levels of respect are lacking and professionalism is needed in many instances. As students we must be ever mindful and consistently conscious to demonstrate high ethical and professional standards. Our academic integrity is at stake when we do not correctly cite references.

    4. Hi Mr. Espat,
I agree with what you said that plagiarism has serious consequences. A lecturer can fail the student for such act. Students tend to take information from other text with out using any quotations. References should be utilized in order that a person teaches, learns and research in an honest manner. We tend to use other people work as our own. Copy the sentence or paragraphs "straight" from the document. We must learn to use quotations and state some example that would clearly defined such statement being said.

  5. Netiquette which is Network Etiquette deals with having respect for others online. It is important as it brings about good social interaction and it generates certain amount of trust between participants. We need to be mindful of how our messages get across virtually and consider other people's feelings because a person might offend other people without meaning to or they might misunderstand what others say and take offense when it's not intended. Some basic rules of Netiquette to keep in mind are Avoid using ALL CAPS, be respectful of others and be careful of what you say.

    1. Good night Ms. Anya. I must say that you brought across some excellent pointers in your explanation. We need to be careful of what we say, especially on the internet. Often times, the things we post on the internet are taken out on context or are interpreted in ways which we did not intend for it. This is because people simply have different opinions and perceptions of things. As you mentioned, we should keep in mind that others are entitled to their own opinions and we should respect their views. I also enjoyed your tip on all caps. To be honest, I simply saw writing all caps on a post as the person trying to stress their point, not as being disrespectful, shouting or angry. I guess everyday we learn new things.

  6. As professionals, it is very important for us to bear in mind the concept of netiquette, especially in our online classroom discussions and emails. We have to remember that the things we post and the actions we make online can send either positive or negative messages about ourselves to others. It is our choice to decide what kind of impression we want other people on the internet to have of us. In our classrooms we teach about manners, respect and other good characters. Just the same, we too should be conscious of other people’s opinions and beliefs, regardless of their views in their personal lives. Yes, I know that sometimes we, as humans, allow our fingers to do the talking and we post comments and blogs that we regret in the future. One of the biggest myths about the internet is that we can take back what we post. Trust me! Whatever we post on the internet remains on the internet and is available for the public eyes. Therefore, I would suggest thinking before posting anything that may cause a negative effect in the future. With that said, I must stress that netiquette is vital in maintaining the professionalism, maturity and respect in online classes and throughout the cyber world.

  7. Netiquette speaks on the customary manner of being polite and portraying this behaviour in society or among members of a particular profession or group. We communicate regularly using technology as professionals; at times we tend to forget that we should act in a professional manner. When communicating via the internet it is non-verbal as a result netiquette is very important as information communicated is portrayed in a certain manner. We must act as professional and use proper tone in communication with others in chats, email and other forums. Communication is not being done face to face as a result how the information is stated is very important as the receiver of the information cannot see expression you are trying to represent; as a result netiquette is very important by alleviating the communication barrier of misinterpretation. Netiquette embodies positive communication especially as professional when communicating online with our students or others; it should be used to guarantee that correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation are put in place to project professionalism.

    1. Ms. Usher, you mentioned some important reasons why one should practice netiquette. The one that stands out to me was when you mentioned "when communicating via the internet, it is non-verbal an as a result netiquette is very important as information communicated is portrayed in a certain manner". Students need to know how to act by using proper tone when communicating. For example, they need to avoid coarse, rough or rude language and observe good grammar and spelling. Students also need to be respectful to others because they should remember that they are communicating to real people.

    2. Hi Ms. Usher ,
I agree with you fully. Some of the students would wait until the night before the paper is due to perform miracles; doing so we tend to copy and paste ideas that are not ours. That's the reason why most lecturers now would have citation as a part of the requirement. In that case the student will be aware that they can lose points for not handing in such reference.

  8. Academic integrity is intellectual honesty and responsibility for academic work that you submit or work on with others. It involves commitment to the values of honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility. It is expected that students will respect these ethical values in all activities related to learning. The university has a responsibility to ensure that students graduate from their programs with the skills that they require to participate successfully in the community or workforce. An inaccurate representation of a persons disciplinary knowledge, academic skills, and professional competence could be potentially harmful to others’ well-being and could compromise the university’s reputation, as well as their own. Students expect to have a high quality learning experience. They need to feel that their hard work is being recognized and fairly evaluated, and that other students do not have an unfair advantage through cheating on exams, essays, or projects. Cheating and plagiarizing are serious academic offenses. Instructors have the responsibility to ensure that standards of academic honesty are met. Plagiarism sometimes occurs due to ignorance or confusion, but it is the responsibility of the student to know the rules. Students who are unsure about the standards for citations or for referencing their sources must seek that information from their instructors.

When paraphrasing, the most important things are to make sure that you are presenting the author’s opinion accurately, and to be very clear about what information is the author’s and what is your own opinion.

  9. It is important to practice using netiquette in on-line discussions and emails because there is no face to face communication with the teacher. Also netiquette involves respecting the privacy of others by not doing anything online that will disturb or frustrate other people. It helps you to be courteous and respectful of others when receiving an email, or participating in an online discussion. If teachers are not using it , I believe those who have students using the internet should provide netiquette with some safety guidelines to ensure student's safety rules and the proper use of communication.
It is very good to implement because it is using technology effectively to communicate with your teachers or others personally and professionally.

  10. Academic integrity means doing what is morally right in academics. When given a research paper students find it so easy to plagiarize “copy” others work without citation. Or is done at times during crunch time by doing last minute work and students believe that it is the right thing to do. If students are given the opportunity to practice citing work this would alleviate the problem of plagiarism. Students need to recognize that it is being dishonest and that there are penalties in plagiarism. And the right thing to do is to give credit where it is due to authors of articles, novels, etc.

    1. Good night Ms. Fiona,
In this generation of students, academic integrity may be more difficult because of all the resources they are exposed to. Don't get me wrong, resources are very beneficial for students, however, sometimes students need to be reminded that resources are to be used as guides and not as a form of plagiarism. You stressed a very important point in your post when you mentioned that students need to recognize that there are penalties in plagiarism. As you mentioned, the moral thing to do is to acknowledge the respected authors of pieces being used in our work. As educated people, we all know it builds integrity and standards in ourselves and our work.

    2. Hi Ms Usher

You are right! Some students actually don't truly understand the seriousness of plagiarising. Procrastination and plagiary goes hand in hand. The minute we take long to start an assignment we begin to worry and the idea of pulling information form all over the place is what comes to mind first. Study skills and good academic habits needs more focus. We could focus on the skill of citation more in the high school and not wait for the junior collages and universities. Honestly this is not and easy thing to learn. Students at our level are still having problems with the MLA and APS formats for proper citation. So the key is plant the seed of honesty as early as possible.

  11. ACADEMIC INTEGRITY

Many times student's who are doing online classes are drawn easily into practice Academic Integrity, especially when writing an essay or doing research. They often forget to find evidence to uphold their argument. It's easy for one not to make an effort to just reword the information from the source into their original language.
Their information and ideas are almost identical to the original writing, but there is absolutely no citation which leads to academic integrity. As a student, everyone is expected to submit their original work by giving credit to other people's idea.
The tutorial have provided three options which are: Paraphrasing and Quoting, Paraphrasing and Summarizing, and Summarizing by Rewarding. Each was explain as to what to do, and what not to do. It's best to work independently. academic dishonesty not only cheats you of your learning experience, but it also can lead into failing your assignment or even expulsion from the university.

  12. As teacher we are teaching our student to be truthful in there work as much as possible. Now that we are the student we are trying to find the easy way out by using someone else's work to get good grades in our courses. Despite the fact that we may be burden with many things to do, let us practice what we teach our children. Do as I say and not as what I do. This need to be changed we need to teach ourself first to do the right things and pass it on to those who are to be our future leaders. Let us bring them up in the right way for the betterment of our students and country. I know we have suffered from our past. We were alway yelled at when we try to defend ourselves. We were never given the opportunity to make decision for ourselves, now we are limited in reasoning abilities that we are now dependent on the work of others. We are professionals let us battle it and work on our own.

  13. Imagine a student using one of the examples of plagiarism which the tutorial mentioned in your classrooms. More specifically, I can remember various times while teaching that my students would copy and paste information about the given topic, place it in a folder and hand in as a research paper. It is the same concept as those examples on the tutorial website. We often think that by changing some words here and tweaking some sentences there, that we are not plagiarizing. The reality is that if we use citations from other pieces and they are not properly sourced, we are, as the tutorial states it, violating academic integrity. I think that we should learn how to provide references when writing our own pieces to show that our work is original and authentic. By doing this, it gives more credibility to our work which in turn makes us better students.

  15. The Importance of Netiquette
Netiquette, rules of acceptable behavior while working on line is a must for proper and effective communication. Perception by others (especially when one’s words are all the other person has to judge) is of utmost importance. One’s credibility is greatly affected by use of proper netiquette. One’s ethical considerations and levels of professionalism are conveyed when communicating in the on line classroom. The manner of addressing, greeting and signing off one’s communication impresses the readers of emails and other correspondences via the net. Correct spelling and grammar, font sizes and color all contribute to how others interpret a person and her comments. Quick responses reflect respect and show proper netiquette. In order to communicate effectively proper netiquette must be practiced.

  16. As we know of the word etiquettes and its importance in our day to day professional life, it is also very much important to know of the term netiquettes as technology is rapidly taking over the world of communication may it be personal, social or business. When thinking of the rules and conditions of netiquettes, there are several rules to abide by. When we are writing letters to be posted by a post office, we learn form a very early age that we need proper greeting. When writing emails to people may it be friends of other professionals we often use slangs that we know are not appropriate. Having inappropriate slangs and phrases can come across as disrespect. We also need to make sure to use proper grammar. One common words that I see in emails is the use of the word “you”. Instead of using this, we tend to use “u”.
Another one of the netiquettes rules that I often see people breaking is forwarding emails with other people’s email. We fail to realize that some people are more personally than other and may not want their information easily displayed for all to access. Proper netiquettes may also hinder us from getting businesses form others who might just be thinking of doing business with us. In conclusion, we need to garner the skills of proper netiquettes in order to properly and effectively communicate online.

    1. I honestly conquer with your last paragraph. As professionals we must set rules in being respectful to others and don't do to others what you would not want them to do unto you, this is instilled in us by our parents. Technology being more advance others are very confidential with their personal information such as emails hence others try their best to keep it private and only issue it to persons which they know for valid reasons. We should take time out to try and understand the rules of netiquettes in order to effectively communicate.

    2. Communication is vital, especially in this day and age. Effective communicating needs to be stressed more. Netiquette needs to be taught just as how etiquette was in years gone. (Addressing letters and language and sentence structures that communicate properly were thoroughly taught.) The computer age has somewhat altered the level of importance directed at certain topics.I agree that many times business is lost in translation due to poor netiquette. Misuse of grammar, using slangs and abbreviations affect interpretation and can be seen as disrespect. Students may not realize what they do incorrectly if they are not taught proper netiquette.

  17. It is very important for us to give credit where credit is due. We find this many times in the day to day interactions with colleagues and friends. Our colleague or friend might share a brilliant idea with us and intern we pass it off as our own failing to give credit to the person who gave birth to the idea. This is one form of plagiarise. The tutorial on academic integrity highlights the importance of proper citation when doing work/assignments on line. It focuses on three areas where I myself had misconceptions about. I was of the opinion that reading a piece of information and putting it in my own words was good enough. I now see that this too is a form of plagiarising because paraphrasing does not make the idea mine. Weather we are paraphrasing and quoting, paraphrasing and summarizing and summarizing by rewording it is still very much important for us to give credit.

  18. Firstly, we need to understand what “Netiquette” is. It is the method of simply having manners when using the internet or any form of communicating methods online. During an Online-Classroom we must conduct ourselves as though we are in an actual classroom. The only difference is the physical building and space. Hence, we must keep in mind proper method of communications. With the online session we must respect each other privacy and more so opinion. One must conduct themselves in a civilize manner during such online classroom. Many people love to use all caps and bold to emphasize a point. At times this can be misinterpreted into negative emotions and create a wave of change to the entire discussion which could have been avoided. Words can emphasize points more than characteristics in typing. Many times people respond to emails and do not refer to the previous email or refer to the point of which email they are responding to. This is a huge part of lacking proper netiquette. Many times we would place our emails on some form or submit it to some business purpose and then we end up getting bulks of junk mail. This also abuses ones privacy in netiquette. Hence, there must be some set of rules and protocols that guides these online behaviors and keep proper order from stepping on one’s preference

  19. Referencing should not be an option for a writer in any aspect. There are many purposes why a person should take severe consideration in referencing. Firstly, I think one of the main reasons why we should reference when it comes to writing; is simply to delete any form of plagiarizing. In any writing a person uses other information to prove their writing or for comparing or more so, to contrast. Making references allow the reader to know where the source of the other information was obtain and ensures that it clearly display whose writing it is! If you are writing about some form or data or statistic it is critical to reference support document such as surveys and other forms of graph in connection of referencing where you got them from. Referencing allows a reader to accept or reject different parts of the writing base on the source where it was obtained. Referencing should give substance to your writing.

I concur that the rules of netiquette does offer a great guideline for online communication. These guidelines ensure that we remain professional even when operating in an informal manner. I believe that netiquette should be introduce to all network users at an early stage to avoid embarrassing situations and foster the proper ethical procedures when communicating using the internet.
Once netiquette is learnt and practiced it comes naturally to the internet user. This is similar to the students we teach, once we teach and reinforce what we teach we find that learning takes place and it is difficult to undo what was learnt. When you learn to ride a bicycle, that knowledge and skill stays with you for a lifetime. Therefore, I must say that we can start teaching netiquette to our children to help to prepare them for the future.

It is all about communicating online respectfully, doing what you would want someone else to do to you. In the real world many are law abiding and are afraid of getting caught doing the wrong thing. This is the same way we should communicate on line, respectfully remembering to keeping it ethical. Don't provoke others, and adhere a certain standard of behavior while communicating on line. This type of information I believe would be very helpful if society would be educated on it.

Many people send mixed messages when texting or use shortcuts others don't understand. This lead to poor communication and also influence proper spelling of words.

  22. Netiquette is the use of technology effectively to communicate with others with knowledge, understanding and courtesy. Therefore when posting or editing information online we must be truthful and think about other online users since the internet is used by many for different purposes such as: conducting assignments, as references and for cross checking information for validity. Furthermore, etiquette refers to email and the respectable way in which it should be carried out in order to not make others feel disrespected or offended in any way by the usage of all caps and when forwarding emails to not include others information which they may want to keep confidential such as there email addresses. As mature adults we must also be professionals when using technology when communicating with others because for some it is a means of socializing and from which we are judged as to not leave a bad impression of our selves.

  23. Academic integrity is giving credit to ones work, which would be known as referencing properly, and not claiming others work and passing it off as your own, also known as plagiarism. We do research to improve the quality of our work, while acknowledging the author of the gotten information. Ones work is more meaningful when it is done by the individual, with hard work and dedication there is no need for plagiarism. I could remember in my Foundational of Management class we had a group work to do and one group seems to not have gotten their work together in time. What that group did was to copy another group's work from their flash and submitted the same work. When it was announced in class both groups owned the work that was on the same topic, same mistakes, spelling errors, identical project. The teacher told them she would decide who takes the grade and who gets the zero which causes a big problem which is at the end of the day plagiarism. This we should not be facing in our classroom, we all have a brain and all have capabilities.

I can also relate to a situation in Fundamentals of management whereby we were also placed in groups to do a class debate. We were to see each others thoughts before the due date to make corrections in order to choose the best research work. One of the group members played a trick on us whereby she said she wanted everyone's work so she could have edited it. In return she took paragraphs from other group members work and passed it on as her own. the day of the debate her work was disregarded due to plagiarism. often times people plagiarize due to being lackadaisical and looking for short cuts in finishing their work and sometimes the work that person is able to produce is far better than the one they plagiarize .

  24. Academic integrity is based on three forms of plagiarism which are Paraphrasing and quoting, Paraphrasing and summarizing and Summarizing by rewording. As effective researchers we must always give credits to the various authors when we use there work by properly referencing them on our reference page and using in-text citations especially when quoting directly from their source whether it is a sentence or paragraph. Based on readings, using others work and failing to reference them is definitely unacceptable since it would be violating academic integrity. Academic integrity basically being giving credits and being honest when using some one else's work by giving them the credits due.

It is true, we need to give someone's work credit where it is due. We need to be honest about what we write and how we use others information. Academic integrity is all about honesty

  25. In open forum there are rules that govern the way in which dialogues should be carried out online. By simply following those rules guarantees us stress free and uninterrupted time. Netiquette is simply a set of protocols and procedures we should follow when communicating with others online, whether it is via chat or email. Portraying proper netiquette is very important for it enable us to maintain discipline and respect for others and most of all for ourselves. The way in which we communicate can be misleading at times therefore we must always be mindful of our choice of words and the tone in which we communicate our information.

  26. Academic Integrity is being an honest and accountable scholar. It is a moral code of ethics students should follow in order to maintain excellent academic standards. As a student, you are expected to submit original work and give acknowledgment to other peoples' information and thoughts. In order to maintain one’s academic integrity encompasses creating and expressing one’s ideas in development work and in cases where you have gathered information from other sources it should be acknowledged. The words I believe sums up academic integrity are honesty and working independently which influence authenticity in student’s learning and lead to success.

  27. The internet has so much information to take in. like many other contrivance, there is a wrong and right way of taking in this information seen on the internet. When you are honest about your work is called Academic Integrity. Academic Integrity is the intellectual and responsibility for academic work that you submit. Academic Integrity is important because not having responsibility of your work can destroy the university’s reputation; students need to be evaluated fairly, and to sustain the value of honesty, fairness, responsibility, trust and respect.
Plagiarism is not copying word to word but having a similar idea of the original text. Some forms of plagiarism are Paraphrasing and quoting; paraphrasing and summarizing; and summarizing by rewording. Assignment are given to a student learn and the grade given reflects how much you learn; therefore, being academically dishonest gives a false impression of how much you have learn.

  28. Netiquette issues affect everyone and my experiences though limited to a few of the many options available are relative to the points raised in the articles. I do relate to the receipt of bulk mail that is unimportant as well as irrelevant to me; they fill my inbox and when I do check my mail I end up spending (wasting) precious time deleting. In our forums, we will connect with each other’s thoughts through written words. For effective communication, we must convey our ideas with correct tones and inflections. How we express what we share has a bearing our readers’ affective domain. So, we ought to pay attention to netiquette especially when we are engaged in our on-line classroom discussions and in our emails.

  29. Documenting References
Plagiarism is rampant for sure. It occurs at many levels but should be avoided, especially by students at tertiary level and above. The internet is a vast domain for information and therefore leaves open the proverbial window for students to compromise their academic integrity. It is easy for one to find information and adapt another person’s work as one’s own. In the tutorial viewed, three options were given and all reflected plagiarism. The academic integrity of the student was compromised in each case as she did not cite any references for the source of her essay. She did not use any original thoughts to make the ideas her own. As explained, she should have used quotes and cited the source whether in paraphrasing, summarizing or rewording the essay and or its parts. Any material that is not original must be referenced to cite the original author and the origins of said material. No student should want to plagiarize; being responsible and accountable for one’s true performance is the pinnacle of an ‘A’. It is then left that I say it is imperative that we as students, or otherwise, learn how to properly document references thereby maintaining academic integrity to gain credibility.

  30. As teachers, we need to assess what students have learnt from a lesson delivered to them. It is a form of evaluation for the teacher before moving on with another lesson. We work with a curriculum and assessment should be given based on the syllabus for a class. We should assess students learning progress and competencies but before assessments are given we must ensure that our students are prepared to take any assessment.
Assessing students’ progress and competency can be done by the traditional pen and paper test, through observation of students while learning, research projects, presentations and group work. Assessments are used to identify where your students are in a particular subjects an it helps to identify students strengths and weaknesses.
